In 1908, Marquis M. Converse opened the Converse Rubber Shoe Company with the goal of providing the world with quality footwear. In keeping with that tradition, Converse was the first company to introduce athletic styling, comfort, and performance to duty uniform shoes, starting with the first basic training shoe for the US military, the Converse Chuck Taylor, introduced in 1946. Since then, we've continued to lead the pack with innovations in comfort technology, design, and performance, such as durable, lightweight materials that reduce fatigue; more flexible outsoles that add comfort and require no break in period; high ankle stabilizers to decrease ankle injuries; and innovative cushioning materials that absorb impact, eliminate shock, and provide unparalleled comfort. Converse footwear is built for athletes in uniform.
